June 20-26, 2005
Thanks to Roland Friestad for a great week of intense CNC. It was very hot with at least 2 days of over 100 degree F heat index.
IMService was present all week with ongoing displays of operational Sherline CNC mills and lathes. We also had several new products on display.
Highlights follow:

Our software products were demonstrated and users had free training all
week. A copy of Vector Cad-Cam and a DeskCNC with controller were donated
for the Friday night raffle.
Bob Stevenson, one of our past customers brought his Spectralight machine and we helped him finish the servo retrofit and showed him how to program it.
On Saturday afternoon we had a brief show and tell about CNC router design. The current IMService tabletop design was displayed, along with discussions of the design criteria which went into the design, including desired machine features, constraints and economics . The target retail price is $750, assembled, and it is expected to be available for sale as early as the time of Iron Fever in August.
During the week one of the demo projects was a 3D rotary scan of a dolls head, and the subsequent cutting in wax on a 4 axis CNC mill:

Another shot from a slightly different angle.
We showed a new 4 inch Z axis slide for CNC routers. Estimated retail price for slide less servo motor is $250. Slides is planned for release in late July.

Acme threads with Thompson shafting and linear ball bushings. Assembly has NEMA 23 motor mount, flex coupling, Delrin zero backlash nut, and thrust bearings to eliminate end-play. Shown with a Globe PMDC servo motor installed.

We are now stocking a new 300 va transformer. It has 120v primary and 20v and 6 volt secondaries. Available at the IMService on-line store.

Due for release this week or next is a 4 axis DeskCNC, SV-500 servo driver box with a parallel port interface. This assembled, closed loop servo driver can be run from DeskCNC in a box, EMC, TurboCNC, Mach1-3, CNC pro, Ahha, or just about any of the parallel port, Step and direction controllers. The basic box is wired for EMC/Sherline configuration. It has a 120vac power supply, mains breaker, power indicator, and cooling fan in a compact metal enclosure.
Prices start at $595 for the box alone, including 12 foot power and encoder cables, and bundles with motors range from $719 for 2 axis to $1069 for 4 axis.

IMService is also offering #2 V wheels and bushings at a deep discount price. These can be purchased directly from our on-line store.

See you all next year!
